Reminder: Melody & Form Test on Monday

This week in music class, the students will continue to learn/understand components of a melody and analyze the form of various pieces of music.   We will have a test on this information on Monday, September 29.  

7th and 8th Graders Need to Know:
Treble and Bass Clef Notes, Key Signatures, Intervals, Major Scales, Triads, how to identify the form of a popular piece of music, and basic Solfege information.

6th Graders Need to Know: 
Treble and Bass Clef Notes, Intervals, the C Major Scale, Solfege syllables and John Curwen Hand Signs.

Melody and Form Unit

This week in music class, the students will learn/understand components of a melody and analyze the form of various pieces of music. By the end of this unit, students will be able to identify notes on the treble and bass clef, identify intervals, chords, and key signatures, and sing a variety of music. We will have a test on this information on Monday, September 29.

We will have a special guest, Mr. Mike Bruno, in on Wednesday, September 17 to teach a lesson on the drum kit.  He has been teaching private percussion lessons to Lakeview and Prarieview students for the past 8 years.  We are very excited to have him in to work with our students!

This week in Music: Rhythm

This week in music, all grades will be learning about components of rhythm. The students will be composing their own rhythms and performing on instruments. 6th grade students will be focusing on basic rhythms in simple meter.  7th and 8th grade students will learn how to read and identify rhythms in complex and compound time signatures. There will be a unit test next week for all grades. We will review in class the day prior by taking a "practice test."
